Rachel Gorman joined the AO team as a Client Advocate focused primarily on working with foreign nationals in 2023. AO’s model for client-led services and whole-person advocacy matches Rachel's own passion for supporting others in a compassionate and empathetic way. Ms. Gorman holds a degree in International Studies and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from Indiana University, with concentrations in Arabic and Peace and Conflict. She is passionate about language and cultural education and recently completed her TEFL certification to teach English. She loves learning new phrases in other languages, and is working on learning Spanish. Ms. Gorman is committed to building intercultural relationships and served as the Diversity and Inclusion chairwoman for her sorority.

Rachel is a proud Toledoan and is excited to work with the Advocating Opportunity staff and community partners. While in high school at Central Catholic and serving on a Youth Leadership Toledo project, she was fortunate to learn about AO’s mission of supporting survivors on their journeys to reclaim their livelihoods. Ever since, she has followed their successes and admired their clients’ and staff’s resilience.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys running, dancing to Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny, cheering on the Hoosiers, making seasonal vegetable risottos, and snuggling with her dogs. She hopes to be a compassionate advocate and looks forward to working with people from different backgrounds.
