Heather Wise, LISW-S (she/they) 
Client Advocate

Heather is a native of Columbus, Ohio and has a Bachelors of Social Work from Capital University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan. As a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Heather has a well-rounded background in direct service, community organizing, program development, and research. Prior to joining AO, she/they worked as a psychotherapist for youth and young adults experiencing trauma, suicidality, and abuse. The framework for her/their work is rooted in Anti-Oppressive Practices, Trauma Informed Care, Cultural Responsiveness, Transformative Justice and Critical Intersectionality.

Heather has 15 years of experience providing individual and community based services including crisis intervention, conflict resolution, advocacy and outreach for people of all ages. She/they have worked with diverse communities, including LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and dis/abled folks, people experiencing houselessness, survivors of domestic violence, and people struggling with trauma, addiction, and various mental health issues. Heather believes in treating others with radical compassion and being in solidarity with others to dismantle oppressive systems and structures.
